Wellness Wednesday - Why a Home Practice is Vital for Your Health
Apr 27, 2022Welcome to the new HealthGirl AnyTime Studio! This video gives you a tour of our new unlimited content library and shows how easy it is to use.
Now, I know a lot of you are going to say, "Ugh, I can't do at-home stuff, it just isn't me!"
Fair. I know doing things for your wellness on your own time can be difficult, but so is making sure you make healthy meals for yourself, or do the laundry, or any of the other things that need to be done every day to keep you and your family happy and healthy.
I used to have a hard time with it as well, but I realized: Even if I go to a gym several days per week, there are still many days that it isn't feasible to do so, and at that point, doing something at home is the only way for me to be active in a way that will make a difference.
Not just that, but going to a gym is really the same as doing fitness at home - you have to get dressed, figure out what you're going to do at the gym, then do it on your own most of the time, even if you have a trainer. Classes are great in person, I'm not knocking them, but how many can you really do per week?
Because here's the thing:
Unless you're one of those incredibly lucky people who can afford a personal trainer or to take fitness/yoga/activity classes every day, there will be many times that you are going to be left to your own devices to be active and help your health.
Isn't it easier to have a website to go and pick a workout/ yoga practice/ meditation/ recipe/ DIY project and do it from the comfort of your own home, on your own time, at your own pace?
Being active isn't just a once per week thing, either - doing a yoga or fitness class once per week may keep you from totally losing body condition, but it's not going to help you reach your wellness goals in a meaningful capacity any time soon.
To really impact our health in an obvious and effective way, we really need to be active most days (I'd say every day, but that's not realistic, even for me, and it's my job to be active). Going to a gym is EXCELLENT, but it isn't the only thing you can do to be fit and healthy.
In fact, those of you with gym memberships can really benefit from an at-home, online site like the AnyTime Studio to help you stay consistent on your days away from the gym - perhaps you work out at the gym 4 days per week, but those other 3 days can be used to build flexibility, help release tension, encourage better sleep. Maybe you lift weights 4 days per week, but a really good holistic practice of wellness will also get you to do a few days of yoga in there as well to stretch out and release tension from the muscles you are working so hard to build!
Not to mention the fact that if there is ever a time when you can't get to an in person class or to your gym, you will always have access to the online classes (as long as you have internet access, of course)!
Plus, we have videos for just about everyone - we have yoga videos for very active individuals with minimal injuries or restrictions, but we also have a huge variety of classes for individuals who are just starting out or recovering from injuries and need to gently ease into a physical program.
So there are just a few reasons to have a home practice. I hope you'll give it a thought, check out the video above, and hopefully join our amazing community in the AnyTime Studio!
